As GameStop stock continues to soar, a source confirmed to the Velvet Hamster Wednesday that this indeed due to a renewed interest in the Sega classic ‘ToeJam & Earl.’

Fans of the game series have been packing into GameStop stores across the nation all week to restock on used copies of the games for Sega Genesis. Once word spread of its high demand, more and more people began buying stock in the company.

“We didn’t really see this coming, GameStop CEO George Sherman said. “But can you blame anyone? ToeJam & Earl is an American classic. People better hurry up while there are only a few copies left.”

It is unclear how GameStop’s stonks will be affected once people begin selling their copies back.
