The team formerly known as the Boston Red Sox has finally removed the racist undertones from its name, eliminating ‘Boston’ from their brand.

In this step toward progress, the Red Sox will now be known as the City of Massachusetts Red Sox. This comes after years of calls to change their racist name, with calls intensifying this year.

“We knew we could do better,” Red Sox owner John Henry said. “We recognize that this name is hurtful to many people, especially people who have experienced the city in question.”

The Boston Celtics have not yet commented on if they will tweak their logo to get rid of the racist imagery, the name Boston.
