After a long investigation and brief standoff, police have raided a local grandmother’s lottery scratch-off distribution ring she was running, illegally benefitting her grandkids.

The ring had apparently been running for as many as five or six years, with the grandmother – Ruthie Douglas – buying scratch-off tickets from the local 7/11 and giving them to her grandkids on birthdays. The grandkids have said to have benefitted as much as $12 over the years.

“Today’s crackdown was about cleaning up our streets,” the police chief said in a news conference. “We can’t have minors exposed to gambling, especially with multiple dollars on the table. This grandmother will be brought to justice.”

Police are looking into additional claims that her coffee cake may have not met FDA standards.
