While some progressive politicians warn that the end of the world could come in 12 years if climate change is not addressed, a Minnesota couple is saying the timing is actually perfect.

Jake and Marissa Thorton – parents of children aged four and five – say they are thrilled the world will end just before they need to pay for their kids’ college educations.

“You see the price of higher education these days,” Jake Thorton said. “Any way we can avoid that cost is welcome.”

“I’m sure some might argue against the world ending,” Marissa said. “And there are valid arguments on both sides. But you can’t really argue that the timing is perfect.”

The parents have reportedly stopped saving for both kids’ college funds.
