Here at the Velvet Hamster, we understand that Tuesday is an important day that will bring out a lot of emotions. Because we are a magnanimous publication, we want to help you.

First, it’s important to know that we all have different viewpoints, but there is far more that unites us than separates us.

Perhaps your parents like hard shells when you know that soft are the only way forward. Maybe you have an uncle that still calls them “burritos” even when they’re on corn tortillas.

Cilantro is another issue tearing families apart. Does it taste like soap or does it make a taco complete? Can we respect the sibling that believes otherwise?

What about sour cream and cheese? When your own children are eating gringo tacos at your table, what are you supposed to do?

At the Velvet Hamster, we recommend leading by example, but not letting these issues ruin a very special day. Enjoy your meal and the company without drawing undue attention to things which may cause friction. There won’t be another Taco Tuesday for another 7 days; don’t waste this one.
