An area man spent roughly half his morning searching for the perfect Spongebob gif to send back as a reply in a group thread – a task he eventually achieved around 10:30 a.m. CST Monday, 8:30 a.m. pacific.
The comment he was replying to was from his friend Mike that said “haha good one, dumbass” in what started as a conversation about NBA free agency but delved into an argument about the best available point guards and evolved into a barrage of personal – though still friendly – insults between friends. GIFs that were considered included the one of Spongebob smiling and biting his lip at Squidward, Spongebob high fiving Patrick and Spongebob burying himself in sand. None of those accurately captured the mood though.
“There were just so many to pick from,” the man said. “It was a top priority for me to find the one that really hit the point home.”
He eventually decided on the classic Spongebob mocking gif, with the text attached “hAhA gOoD oNe DuMbAsS.”
