Despite a slow first 11 months in the calendar year, a local mall Santa is thrilled to see an unexplained uptick in business this month

Many mall Santas across the country saw virtually zero business in the spring and summer, and barely any more this fall. However, once the calendar turned to December, parents flooded malls with their kids, possibly saving the fledgling mall Santa business.

“I was really worried for a bit,” said local mall Santa Tom Hallert, 32. “Business hit an all time low around July. Many of us struggled to pay rent. Somehow we rebounded this winter.”

“You can’t really explain it. It’s a Christmas miracle.”

In less inspiring mall business news, Halloween stores reported their second consecutive slow month and owners are not confident January will be any better.
