In a powerful response move, Hulu has landed the rights to the 2000 NBC sitcom ‘The Michael Richards Show’ days after losing Seinfeld to Netflix.

Losing Seinfeld was seen as a devastating blow to Hulu and a huge win for Netflix, but Hulu president Randy Freer feels that The Michael Richards Show will fill the void nicely.

“They’re essentially the same show,” Freer said. “Both feature Kramer, both popular on NBC, both lasted roughly between 8 episodes-9 seasons.”

“We couldn’t be happier to have the streaming rights to one of the most popular sitcoms in the fall of the year 2000.”

Hulu is also rumored to be interested in acquiring the rights to “Listen up!” and “Bob Patterson” but nothing has yet to come to fruition.
