President Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday that he has directed the Navy to “shoot down” Iranian gunboats that harass U.S. ships, possibly sparking conflict.
Trump went on to say that the flying gunboats are particularly dangerous since they can both strike on water and in the sky, as well as possibly on land.
“These Iranian gunboats; they’re tough,” Trump said. “One minute they’re in the water like most boats, then the next thing they have wings – big, tremendous wings – and they’re flapping around in the sky and they attack you from the air. Some people say they can even walk on land – I don’t know if that’s true. But look, these are a real threat people. Our navy is on it. We’ll shoot them down by land, by air, by sea. Kinda like that phrase in that Vince Vaughn movie, what’s it – the Break Up? Or Swingers? – anyway the one with Jennifer Aniston. Both great actors, ya know I was a great fan of ‘Friends’ though its ratings weren’t as high as ‘The Apprentice’ but both NBC back when NBC was still great. Now it’s really quite disgraceful what NBC has become. But yes, we are going to shoot down those gunboats.”
