For the first time in his life, a 65-year-old Ohio man is feeling like one day he can be president when he grows up, thanks to the historic candidacies of Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and President Donald Trump.
Paul Rantoul never considered the possibility he could be president, as he never saw anyone who looked like him in power. But he said the candidacies of these three men have inspired him to new heights.
“As a white, straight, older man, I never knew people like me could be in politics, Rantoul said. “But seeing these men shatter glass ceilings has me feeling like I could do anything.”
Analysts say this election could inspire a new wave of older white men to get involved in politics.
