As Mitch McConnell prepared to leave the Senate chamber Wednesday night, Republican lawmakers surprised him by pouring their cooler of Gatorade over the party leader.
“I couldn’t have done it without a hell of a team,” McConnell told reporters as friends and family members swarmed their chamber. “This is a win for all of the Republicans who worked so hard to make this happen. I want to thank them for their hard work, those two-a-day conference calls, our donors and God for this victory.”
He was seen wearing a Republican elephant “Impeachment Champions 2020 ” cap as he exited the building.
