During today’s Supreme Court nomination hearing, sitting senators had to politely remind nominee Amy Coney Barrett to please answer all questions in a way that is easy to clip for Twitter.

Democratic Senators Diane Feinstein and Amy Klobuchar were first to point out that some of Barrett’s answers were too nuanced, thoughtful or detailed and that wasn’t going to work to give people not watching the hearing a full picture of how dangerous she would be. Likewise, Republican Senators Mike Lee and Lindsey Graham told Barrett if she talked in simpler, more “mic-drop” like soundbites they could probably get several retweets from bot accounts.

Barrett’s failure to comply has thus far resulted in not nearly enough scorching hot takes, leaving media pundits concerned there might not be a circus.
