After being caught dining with a large group at French Laundry, California Gov. Gavin Newsom has apologized to constituents and promised going forward he will only secretly have dinner parties at chain restaurants.

“I made a mistake,” Newsom said at a press conference outside an Olive Garden Thursday. “Going forward, I promise you I will only have secret dinner parties at chain restaurants. While these restaurants will still be largely unavailable to the rest of you, the fact that I am having unlimited salad and breadsticks or an Applebee’s 2 for $20 makes me kinda like the rest of you guys.”

Newsom was said to be having a cookie skillet and molten chocolate cake at Chili’s the last time he was seen Thursday evening.
