Former HUD Secretary Julián Castro has wasted no time starting his New Year’s resolution, dropping out of the presidential race in pursuit of a more purposeful hobby.

Castro was gaining little traction in the Democratic primary field, leading him to openly wonder what the hell was the point, especially seeing the way the race was advancing. He told the Hamster early Thursday that he hopes to find a new hobby that matters more.

“New year, new me,” Castro said. “I realized last year how much time I was wasting with silly, frivolous projects like running for president and I just decided that I needed a new hobby.”

Castro is considering taking up bowling, knitting, or perhaps calligraphy, all of which most would agree serves more purpose than running for president.
