After negative responses to the name ‘Meta,’ the company formerly known as Facebook Inc. is rebranding again, this time to ‘Greta.’
CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the move is a nod to the future, as both the use of deepfakes and world leader Greta Thunberg is the way forward.
“This reflects who we are and what we hope to build,” Zuckerberg said in the announcement. “I will use this deepfake to show my commitment to technology and our future world leader. I hope people see us as a Gretaverse company.”
Zuckerberg clarified that this shouldn’t change any user’s experience on the website Facebook, as it’s still as terrible as always.
