A disheveled New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at a press conference Thursday that barbers are now essential workers in his state.

Cuomo did not specify what signaled the change, but said the change would need to happen ASAP.

“Barbers have joined the list of essential workers,” the governor said, moving the hair out of his eyes. “Barbers will be able to start working again immediately. In fact, are there any here?”

Lines at barber shops in New York are reportedly wrapping around street corners as of late afternoon. The hair curve will need to be flattened in the coming weeks.
