Congressional Democrats are pressing forward in their quest to impeach President Donald Trump – with some calling for Attorney General Williams Barr to be impeached as well – but Democrats are beginning to agree that their best shot to securing the White House in 2020 is to impeach the American electorate.

The idea of impeaching the electorate was first suggested by Hillary Clinton in 2016 after months of worrying that Trump would not accept the results of the last presidential election. She expressed concern that American voters have rendered elections invalid by not choosing her. Now, the mantle is being picked up by freshman Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

“If the electorate college isn’t going to make the right choice,” she said in an Instagram video, “we have to get a better electorate.”

When Instagram users told her that this is neither how elections or impeachments work, those accounts were quickly suspended to protect the Congresswoman’s first amendment rights.

Early polling shows Americans are mixed on having themselves impeached from the electorate.
