CNN anchor Chris Cuomo has recused himself from all of the network’s Cuomo-themed sitcoms, as his brother New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced he will soon be resigning from his position.
The elder Cuomo faced multiple accusations of sexual harassment, on top of news that his administration doctored the number of nursing home deaths in reports. Chris, to his journalistic credit, is saying he will distance himself from the network’s reporting on his brother, as well as its primetime lineup of Cuomo-themed sitcoms.
“Due to my closeness to the subject of these stories, I no longer will be appearing in any of CNN’s heavily Cuomo-themed sitcoms,” Chris said on his nightly program. “No more ‘Cuomo’s Island,’ no more ‘2 Woke Cuomos.’ At least for the time being. I hope to be back to bringing you laughs soon.”
For the time being, CNN has recast Chris with Poochie the Dog.
