Expert foreign policy experts are furious today, taking to major networks to point out that the 20-year war in Afghanistan was so close to being successful if it was just given a little more time to work.
Academics on both the left and the right have come out to criticize the Biden administration for withdrawing from the conflict after only 20 years and allowing the Taliban to take over the country once again – something that would have been avoidable had the U.S. just stuck around a little while longer. This, some say, was commons sense.
“It’s disgraceful,” former National Security Advisor John Bolton said on CNN. “With just a few more weeks, a year, a decade we could have been victorious. What you’re seeing right now is the result of making hasty decisions overseas.”
Pressure is now mounting on the Biden administration to invade Afghanistan as the country is ripe for regime change.
