NBA Commissioner Adam Silver is trying a new line of messaging to answer reporters’ questions on the league’s relationship with China, saying today “yeah, it’s kinda a mess. But I mean, did you see that Clippers game last night?”

Silver went on to say – in response to being asked if the league was planning to do anything to speak out against China’s totalitarian government – “The Clippers are just so deep. After Kawhi and Paul George, they’ve got Pat Beverely still, Landry Shamet, my guy Zubac. They could go all the way.”

“This is going to be a fun year. The west is loaded,” Silver said, cutting off a reporter asking what Silver thought of LeBron James’ comments criticizing Daryl Morey and freedom of speech. “Both conferences are pretty wide open.”

Silver concluded the press conference by playing Zion Williamson dunk highlights on a projector as reporters continued to yell questions out.
