The football team formerly called the Redskins unveiled Thursday their new name – the Washington Football Team – offending actual professional football teams.
The other 31 NFL teams released a joint statement criticizing the name, saying it’s insensitive to those of us who actually are professional football teams. Washington Football Team owner Dan Snyder said Thursday that the team will not change the name again, and said it is ridiculous that teams like the Browns and Bengals would virtue signal on this topic.
As of late Thursday morning, professional football players have been seeing picketing outside FedExField.
