The NBA is apologizing Tuesday after Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey tweeted what the league deemed to be an offensive tweet toward its fans in the Galactic Empire.
Morey tweeted his support for the rebel cause Tuesday, which prompted NBA commissioner Adam Silver to clarify that the league values its fans who sympathize with the Empire.
“From stormtroopers to the Emperor’s Royal Guards, we have always appreciated our imperial fans,” Silver said in a statement. “The NBA does not echo the statements made by one of our executives.”
Some fans have since criticized the league’s stance, but the Empire has already canceled G-League games in Coruscant.
