Star Wars fans across the world were shocked this week when a much-anticipated trailer showed that the series’ next film will be a screwball comedy starring Adam Sandler and Kevin James.
The movie – Star Wars Episode IX Grown Ups III – is being teased as a “raucous summer romp” that will be “laugh out loud” funny. While the plot is still somewhat unknown, the trailer shows Sandler and James as two goof-off Jedi apprentices who suddenly are counted on to learn the ways of the force to win a bet their Jedi master (David Spade) makes with a Sith lord (Rob Schneider).
Fans took to social media after the trailer’s release to express confusion about how the film logically follows the events of Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi, though many others added that that film’s logic wasn’t sound to begin with.
