The Hamster can confirm Tuesday that several shoppers in stores across the country have learned that if you just reach back far enough on the shelf, you can find a carton of milk that doesn’t expire for 16 years.

Rumors first started to circulate when a northwest Indiana woman looked back several rows of a store fridge after seeing the sudden expiration dates of the cartons in the first two rows.

“One expired Saturday, another Sunday,” said Debra Marshfield, 35, after leaving a Costco in Merrillville, Indiana. “Then I saw this one – June 15, 2035. I am fairly certain I will finish this box of Honey Nut Cheerios by then.”

Grocery stores across the country are reportedly scrambling to restock the back of their shelves now that word is out. Many stores are also bracing for the same reality with bread.
