A groundbreaking new study defies conventional wisdom, revealing that breakfast is not actually the most important meal of the day and it is in fact gin.

The study looked at the health benefits of all the meals – breakfast, lunch, dinner and gin – and found the most health and happiness benefits came from gin.

“With all factors considered, breakfast just mattered significantly less for someone’s day than gin did,” the study reads. “A balanced breakfast provides plenty of nutritional benefits, but a couple shots of gin, maybe a splash of tonic and a lime will do more to get you through your day.”

The study concludes that you should never end your day without at least 3 gin-based cocktails, and adults over 40 should have at least 5.
