A local journalist has formally submitted his paid time off request for the next four years, as there isn’t much work on the horizon.

Lorne McGant, the journalist who covers state and city government for the Muskegon Times Gazette Bee, said he is looking forward to kicking his feet up and finally relaxing. The request will assuredly be approved quickly, as it’s the slow time of the next four years for local and national news.

“The last four years have been a lot of work,” McGant said. “So much fact checking, so many late nights of fearless reporting, so much not dying in darkness. It’s gonna be nice to not have to do that for a while.”

McGant is hopeful he can extend that vacation to a full eight years.
