As Democrats promote packing the U.S. Supreme Court with more members, experts – both of the judicial and fire safety variety – agree that the plan is a serious fire hazard.

Local Washington D.C. fire marshals informed Democratic presidential candidates that – regardless of the judicial merit of the plan – packing the Supreme Court would certainly be a fire hazard, and not safe for anyone involved.

“The Supreme Court is much like a Quiznos,” fire marshal Ed Vaughn said. “There is a limit to the number of people you can safely have in one building.”

Judicial experts agreed, but added that if Democrats were to move ahead with the plan, there would at least need to be several, regular fire drills so Supreme Court attendees would know where the closest exits are.
