Upon Quaker Oats announcing they are retiring the Aunt Jemima logo and name, consumers have applauded the new syrup bottle featuring Aunt Wahoo.

Aunt Wahoo will be the new mascot for Quaker Oats’ syrup, as the company acknowledged the prior name carried a racist history. This new name, however, shows progress.

“This is a move to make progress toward racial equality,” Quaker said in a statement Wednesday. “We needed to update this logo to show that progress. We are stepping forward in the 21st Century with Aunt Wahoo.”

Consumers universally applauded the decision, as well as the rebrand to the new Redskin Oatmeal.
