A hypothetical presidential matchup between former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and President Donald Trump could provide a much needed voice to the underrepresented demographic of New York billionaires, a analysis commissioned by the Velvet Hamster showed.
Billionaires – in particular New York billionaires – are particularly underrepresented in politics, most agree. When analyzing all potential 2020 matchups, Bloomberg vs. Trump potentially does the most to right that wrong.
“There are several vastly underrepresented groups in American politics,” the group of political science professors in the analysis wrote. “Women, African-Americans, Latinos, New York billionaires. This potential election has the opportunity to change that.”
The analysis also found roughly 70 percent of voters did not favor this matchup, showing that prejudice still has a long way to go to be corrected.
